Global Display Market By Technology and TYPE

Global Market be made up of :

1.Technology
2.TYPE

Technologies In Display Market:

  1. LED
  2. LCD
  3. DLP
  4. Lcos
  5. Plasma
  6. E-Paper
  7. OLED
  • LED: LIGHT EMITTING DIODE

The most important part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the semi-conductor chip located in the center of the bulb as shown at the right. The chip has two regions separated by a junction. The p region is dominated by positive electric charges, and the n region is dominated by negative electric charges. The junction acts as a barrier to the flow of electrons between the p and the n regions. Only when sufficient voltage is applied to the semi-conductor chip, can the current flow, and the electrons cross the junction into the p region

When a light-emitting diode is switched on, electrons are able to recombine with holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence, and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy band gap of the semiconductor. An LED is often small in area (less than 1 mm2), and integrated optical components may be used to shape its radiation pattern.

  • LCD: Liquid-Crystal display
This screens are Trans missive.Liquid Crystal acts as light shutters.Current LCD benchmark Specifications Are Sizes to 82” prototypes,Resolution is 1920x1080 pixels and power draw and weight is less than the plasma screen of same size.
How IT Functions :

Randomly arranged LCs pass lights are OFF and Aligned LCs block light  are ON.This effect is called “birefringence”.Principle is the same for low-temperature and high-temperature poly silicon LCD's, and liquid crystal on silicon (L Cos) panels.

  • Plasma :

Plasma Screens are e missive . Current Plasma benchmark Specifications Are
Size-103”, Resolution is 1920x1080 pixels and Brightness is greater than 100 nits.Power draw and weight is Greater than the LCD screen of same size .

  • DLP:

  1. Digital micro mirror device (DMD) used
  2. Rapid on-off cycling of mirrors (pulse-width modulation) builds grayscale image
  3. Color added and blended:
  • With color wheel (single chip)
  • With polarizing beam splitter (3-chip)
  4.Lens projects image to screen

  • E-paper
E-paper Technology is the newest technology of Display Industry,That provide you a large display screen which you can fold, roll and adjust by yourself to fit in small spaces when you are not using it.And the Best Part is E-paper screen uses less battery power than the backlight of cell.
There are two technologies are being developed for e-paper
  1. Electrochromic Display Technology
  2. Organic Light-emitting Diode

  • OLED Organic Light-emitting Diode

Organic Light-emitting Diode-Layer of Organic compound that emits light when power is given. It produces very good quality images and capture motion better than LCD's but it’s life span is only 5000 hours .

  • Lcos:

  1. LCoS is a reflective imaging system
  2. Switching transistors are on back-plane
  3. Greater imaging surface available – higher fill factor than HTPS LCD
  4. Easier to achieve high pixel density in small panels than with HTPS LCD

Image Quality Parameters

  1. Pixel-based imaging breaks the link between brightness and resolution
  2. Peak brightness levels to 1000 nits in LCD and plasma achieved, > 10,000 lumens in LCoS and DLP projectors
  3. Average contrast to 500:1 (LCD, LCoS)
  4. Average contrast > 1000:1 (DLP, plasma)

Color and White Balance

  1. CRT offers ‘pure’ RGB color blending and clean white balance
  2. Plasma color balance affected by gas mixture and UV emissions
  3. LCD, LCoS, DLP projectors dependent on light source (short-arc lamps)
  • UHP/UHE less expensive, color is tricky
  • Xenon more costly, color quality is superior

  • TYPES Of Display Market:
  1. Conventional
  2. Flexible
  3. Transparent
  4. 3D
